Bodog Fight Invites UFC Prez to Trenton

June 15th, 2007

Okay - here’s a press release worth reading.

Bodog Fight Billionaire Makes UFC President an Offer He Can’t Refuse

For Immediate Release

June 15, 2007

In response to recent comments made by Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White, Bodog Fight founder Calvin Ayre is pleased to extend a once-in-a-lifetime offer to his mixed martial arts rival.

White’s unfortunate public diatribe included slanderous comments about the Canadian billionaire, referring to the online gaming mogul as a “criminal”. The notoriously bald UFC promoter goes on to liken Mr. Ayre to a Richard Pryor character, stating “he’s like that guy in Brewster’s Millions who is trying to spend all his money in 48 hours.”

With July 14th’s Bodog Fight: Eddie Alvarez vs. Matt Lee marking Ayre’s first event on U.S. soil, the digital entertainment icon is referencing another Hollywood film, The Godfather, by making White “an offer he can’t refuse.”

“Sources tell me Dana’s a big Bodog Fight fan,” said Ayre. “He must be. He can’t stop talking about us. Personally, I love it when he keeps mentioning my organization in the media. He doesn’t seem to realize that each time he does, he only makes me more money, which is why I want to repay him by allowing him to experience the luxurious lifestyle I am fortunate to enjoy for 48 hours.”

“Since, regrettably, I am unable to attend the upcoming Bodog Fight event in New Jersey, I will offer to send my private jet - complete with an assortment of beautiful Bodog Girls - to pick up Mr. White, wherever he may be. I will then fly him to the east coast where he will enjoy a front row seat to our next event, followed by a VIP evening including a comfortable five-star overnight stay in a nearby Atlantic City hotel. After hitting the poker tables, Mr. White can retire to his lavish suite, sip the finest champagne and relax in the knowledge that all amenities and services are complimentary as my way of saying ‘thank-you’ for all the money he keeps making me.”

All Mr. White has to do is send his R.S.V.P. to pr@bodogfight.com and the wheels will be put into motion.

Dude.

Why the hell can’t you make it to the first Bodogfight in the USA? I was looking forward to meeting you, I got my front row seats and am quite psycked. Hopefully The Dana will take you up on your offer.

  2. Charles

It’s as unfortunate as it is curious that Dana White feels the need to make such comments in the press. But even still, there is nothing listed in this “offer” that White cannot already afford to do himself. Material luxury has its limits…at a certain point, “things” don’t get any better (Ted Turner’s “empty bag” analogy). It is that point at which more money only allows an increase in quantity, not quality.

What good justification would White have for accepting such an offer, when he can basically stay home, sit ringside at a UFC event, and enjoy those same luxuries?

This sounds like “Rosie vs. Trump”, Part II.
    Pure B.S.

  3. WebGuy

Far be it from me to fathom the motives of rich men. Still, a little cockfighting sure keeps the forums going…

  4. Shannon Hamersley

    Hilarious,
Both these guys train. I’d love to see an MMA fight between them. Dana does have the boxing pedigree and Tito did back out of the boxing match, maybe Calvin has some sick submissions. A lot of people would pay good money just for the possibility of a Dana beating.

  5. Brian

Hell, if Cueball (Dana) won’t take Calvin up on his offer, I would gladly sacrifice myself by jumping on that offer. Good stuff Mr. Ayre.

Dana needs to STFU and realize his product is not the end all be all of MMA. I’m sick of the UFC mismatches and golden boys. I’ll admit I was a little skeptical of Bodog Fight at first, but after watching the Costa Rica fights i’m hooked. Keep up the good work

  6. BIG chris

Im sick of dana and his whinning already, hey calvin how does bigdog ultimate fighter 1 sound.get it rollin and lets take the east by storm…about time someone herd of jersey mma…..

  7. retrospectj

you know i cant believe you all can even compare bodog fights to ufc fight. i think Ayre just basically is trying to slap dana in the face to start a big rivalry (wont happen ufc is too big) so he could make mad cash for both dana and Ayre. its all bs. I think ill enjoy bodog fights when i can but im always gonna be siked about the next ufc ppv event every time!

  8. BJJARMBAR

Bodog is a great grassroots organization for the sprouts of MMA. It does an awesome job with publicity and the models are hot. On the other hand, the UFC has the upper hand when it comes to attracting veteran type fighters. Enough of the petty arguments about which organization is better. This is about spreading the sport of MMA. Whoever spends the most energy and passion for MMA will win the fight. Look at boxing as an example. It cannot adapt to the MMA style, and I predict it will slowly become less popular.

  9. fightfan

This is what I don’t want to happen with MMA. Wealthy promoters/owners acting as if they were Don King or Vince McMahon. Bodog needs to continue to put good matches on and fans will follow.

  10. UFC 75

The Owner of Bodog seemz to care onli for the money and dana wants the sport to actully excel.

  11. Tim

The quality of the fights on Bo-Dog needs to increase significantly before any comparison can be made between UFC and Bo-Dog. It’s like comparing the major and minor leagues. I mean no disrespect with this comment, but the level of the fighters in bo-dog just can’t match up… yet. If bo-dog continues to grow and attract the higher level fighters coming up, all that could change. For now lets just sit back and enjoy the growth of the sport we all love.

  12. VTX76

This is why I hate wrestling!!!! Knock this shit off…

  13. VTX76

    and because it is fake

  14. Clay

Lets see if Bodog can pull off a fight between Couture and Fedor for a super fight of the year?

  15. DEEZ

The rivalry is going to turn into another marketing opportunity. The heat will stir up lots of energy for both ufc and bodog. Great money making tactics. Can anyone say - East coast/West coast gangstah rap wars?

  16. johnson

this is about as lame as the eunichs over at mmajunkie!

  17. riddle

stop goofing and put on some good fights…you got the money.
