What is Sambo? Its a combination of martial arts develop in the Soviet Union. It has deep roots of many ancient and efficient martial arts from the former soviet republic…Learn your MMA-ABC before becoming a commentator you dumbfuck!

Fedor is also a high-level judo fighter, in case sonnen wishes to debate whether that is a “real” martial art or not. btw… judo is an olympic sport, and many high-schools in japan and other countries include judo programming.

Despite his personal views on Fedor’s lack luster competition, all you jag offs that think Sonnen is just a commentator might want to check his stats at ufc.com. He is a seasoned competitor who started Team Quest with Randy and Matt and despite getting caught in his last 2 PPV UFC fights, he was arguably dominating both Babalu and Jeremy Horn at the time. FYI

Chael Sonnen is greatly misinformed about sambo.
There are tons of sambo programs in schools, colleges and sport schools in Russia. Sambo is a world renouned sport which is practiced world wide. There are tons of competitions in Sambo including the world championship.
Sambo is similar to judo with its own twist and a little different rules (in sport sambo you can not choke your opponent, but you can do the leg locks, in judo it is the opposite). Most of sambo masters are masters in judo as well. Fiodor is a master in both ( read his boigraphy).
There are two types of sambo: sport sambo and combat sambo. Combat sambo is a mix marshal art, which also has tons of competitions world wide. Combat sambo is also used and practiced in the Russian special forces and millitary elite groups for which the ultimate goal is to servival, not to win. Combat sambo in the armed forces also uses different weapons etc.
Fiodor Emelianenko is a master in sport sambo and in combat sambo, who has won world tournaments in both.
Sambo is a self sufficient sport and a combat marshal art.

Though in the long run Fedor should still win. Maybe we should turn to Brandon Vera to represent our country. Calling CHuck Liddell a wrestler is like calling you a straight hetero dude. He wrestled in Poly-Tech - nothing very special while he was there and not division 1. There are 100’s of dudes that I can dry-hump that wrestled at that level- besides your dad. And Chuck would be the FIRST ONE to tell you - he is PRIMARILY a Kick-Boxer & STRIKER - 1st that DEFENDS the TAKEDOWN. The point - he never was a great takedown guy but he sure as hell is good at stopping it…period. He is the wrestler’s cryptonite, not an ally. Fedor has beaten great fighters of various styles, so GrecoRoman or AlienMartian, whatever, Fedor will and is prepared to kick some ass. He’s beaten bigger fighters, buffer fighters, younger fighters, it doesn’t really matter who he’s fought, he’s beat them all.
Chuck wouldn’t last, Jim Beam, Chuck is a smaller version of CroCop and we all know how the CC fight ended when he fought Fedor.
