Merritt Warren VS. David Overfield
November 25th, 2007We got a full-on visual display of these two fighters via elongated reel played on the big-screen, revealing that Merritt Warren had a strong contingency in the crowd. Warren came out wearing a Superman shirt and full camo, prayed at length at ringside, then entered looking super juiced for the win.
David Overfield, enjoying equally strong support, skipped the prayers and nearly sprinted into the ring. If anything, there might be a few knockouts in the crowd if things get nasty…
This fight is for the belt, and Brockmole held it between them during final instructions.

Things indeed got nasty, both fighters throwing heavy leather early on. They clinched soon after, Overfield holding Warren against the ropes. By mistake, Overfield sunk his kneecap 2-inches-deep in Warren’s scrotum, eliciting a short timeout.
Afterwards, Warren clinched fast and threw some dramatic, leaping knee strikes, but I don’t think they connected. The two landed on the ground, Warren half-mounted. Overfield almost managed an armlock but Warren withdrew it quickly and slammed Overfield’s head into the mat instead. Warren got his head stuck in a triangle leg choke deep in the ropes. After a few seconds, Warren tapped. The Warren contingent was mildly livid; the fight had ended fairly well tangled in the ropes.
At 2:45, David Overfield was awarded the Hook N Shoot title by way of choke. Afterwarsd, Joe Baize and Overfield argued over the mic about whether they should be matched up. Overfield seemed like he wanted to refuse and instead fight Bubby, but Baize was in fine form and kept calling him out. Overfield actually said he’d prefer to fuck it all and fight for Bodog instead. Hysterical.

This fight shows why the cage match is better. You don’t get this tangled in the ropes crap. Overfield had Warren in a triangle choke while his head was 3 feet out of the ring. Crappy end to what could have been a much better fight.

I think Overfield wants a rematch with Bubby, not Bobby Southworth, from season 1 of Ultimate Fighter. Correct me if I’m wrong. I can’t wait for that fight, Baize looked like a real jackass, I hope Overfield dosen’t give him the pleasure

I’m really looking forward to seeing Joseph Baize at 155 lbs. I think Overfield was trying to avoid this fight. Sign this fight. Joe deserves the title shot.
November 26th, 2007 at 7:26 am
Joe couldn’t make 170. Baize has nothing except heel hooks and ankle locks. Baize looked lke the jackass trying to ruin Overfield’s win. Bubby is a better fighter than Baize, and Baize hasn’t fought anyone.

it was a good fight warren escape one triangle choke but he could not escape when they was tangled in the ropes if they do a remach it would be a sold out show as for baize i would not pay money to see him fight warren are overfield .
November 26th, 2007 at 1:09 pm
I would actually pay money to see Baize fight because I would like to see what he looks like besides a fat ass. Also theres nothin like seein a retard get the shit beat of him.
November 26th, 2007 at 2:40 pm
It looks to me like this fight was fixed. Most of the time when you are out of the ring they pull you back in. But not this time. They didnt want Bubby to win and this was the only way Overfield could beat him. Just a shame the best guy had to be cheated like that.

Was it just me or was Baize making this look like the WWE? He’s good , but come on…
November 27th, 2007 at 8:24 am
I hate to see a fight end tangled in the ropes. Fight should have been moved to the middle of the ring. A fight can’t even be stopped in the WWE if someone is touching the ropes.
Rematch Rematch Rematch Rematch Rematch

Whoops, a reader corrected me on the Bobby-Bubby issue. I’ve changed it in the article. Sorry, it was very hard to hear the fighters with all the cheering.

I think bubby needs to study more jiu jitsu from his friend that is one of eric’s blue belts. Seems to be the more jiu jitsu he studies from one of eric’s guys the better he gets.

you said bubby needs to study more jiu jitsu from his friend that is one of eric’s blue belts. Seems to be the more jiu jitsu he studies from one of eric’s guys the better he gets.
Thats pretty funny. I was there. Was you. They rolled 1 time and eric’s blue belt tapped due to a rear naked choke from bubby. He wasn’t studing from one of eric’s guys. It’s people like you who don’t know whats going on that start crap. Get your shit stright before you post next time.

We will see who looks like a retard come March. The set weight was 175. Joe made 173. He will make weight. You guys are idiots. I guess a fighter like Steve Berger doesnt know what he is talking about. He said Joe should fight at 155 almost a year ago when he was weighing 200. We thought he was off his rocker, but looking back he knew what he was talking about.

Dave is gona make you scream like a pig!

So your wanting to brag about Bubby choking out a two year student at Eric’s school who is a “soccer dad” not a highly competitve athlete that Bubby is? Thats a lot to brag on especially since that “soccer dad” was really wanting to help Bubby upon His own request. Why would Bubby ask him for help if he didnt think that He could help him even if he could beat him?
So if you wanna twist the facts to make it more that it was make sure that know one else knows the facts too.
I also sure that your mom would be proud of you choice of screen names too. You bring such pride to what the arts are all about.

I asked “soccer dad” to come down there with us. By the way i called him “soccer dad” all day at work. Thanks for the new nickname for him. I wasn’t bragging about Bubby choking anyone out. They were going very lightly because “soccer dad” had a hurt back. (I guess playing soccer or something). I was just correcting you when you said that one of myers blue belts trained bubby. Now you know the facts..
December 9th, 2007 at 8:58 am
bubby,
you fought a heck of a fight, you might have a loss on your record, but you won by being a stand up guy. as for anyone talkin bout soccer dad “teaching” jiu-jitsu to bubby. as i have told everyone who ask me, if i can be lucky enough to teach bubby something i would be astounded but bubby already knows anything i could teach and like i’ve said has a good ground game. anyone who has ever grappled knows you get caught in submissions and you tap, so that you can come back later to redeem yourself. bubby i will be glad to work with you, just give me a call.
December 11th, 2007 at 9:40 am
every body shut the fuck up about who you think is going to win between joe and dave its going to happen so who cares what all you fucking pussys think half of you wouldn’t step in the ring with either one of them anyway’s and as far as joes weight goes brad thats his problem not yours you fucking fat ass all this shit talking from people that dont fight needs to stop unless you plan on dropping a challenge on either one of those guy’s both of them are gamers and it should prove to be a good show
December 12th, 2007 at 8:48 pm
I didn’t get to see the fight, but from what I hear it needs a rematch. Bubby is a skilled fighter with a grounded mindset. Bodog would be lucky to have a fighter of his class both in ability and personality. Lets get rid of the guys screaming and cussing at each other like its a Vince McMann show. Lets have some class and sportsmanship.

How about this. SHUT UP AND LET ME GET MY BELT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let skill and not popularity prevail.
December 14th, 2007 at 6:13 am
Look at Kenneth Jolly A man who has trained with all of them and fought BUBBY. He knows whats up for sure. I will say good luck to Dave hes gonna need it as for Bubby and Hayes at least we do our shit talking out in the open not behind your back so man up . And dont come on here and act like you dont know what I am talking about so stay behind your jesus persona. Quote the bible and such but I have little respect for you guys for talking trash about our school. Hint saying we got all our skill and was trained by another guy in the same town. All the guys at NICEGUY have worked hard to build it up to have someone trashing us. It always comes around. By the way we are going to need to change our name soon I have a feeling. We dont feel like being nice anymore.
December 14th, 2007 at 8:59 am
Hey Brad who has Dave or Bubby fought? They are just now turning pro if I am correct. So they have only fought amatures. Joe has been fighting pro since 2000. You have no clue what you just got those guys into.
December 17th, 2007 at 5:22 am
Yea I agree man I really don’t feel like being nice anymore either if you could not already tell. Both these guys have no clue what they are getting into with me. Well I guess Dave does and that is why he tried to not fight me. Poor Buddy or Bubby he has no clue.
