Bodog Fight @ Playboy, Day 2 Party Pix

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

I know, I know…. I said that I’d post party pics after I got back from the Sofitel post-weigh-ins party. I decided not to because I was stone drunk and experiencing heart palpitations from drinking too many energy drinks. Blogging drunk/spazzed has never been a good idea.

After a good shit, shower, and shave, I have your pics ready. I now upload them while drinking Trader Vic’s signature $14 Mai Tai. I think this job’s turning me into an alcoholic.

The beautiful people were all in attendance. I knew very few of them.

Some faces were instantly recognizable: here’s VIP Michael Clarke Duncan of The Green Mile-fame being interviewed by our buddies at NowLive.com. Well, they were trying to - he never got off the phone.

Many of our fighters were in attendance, including Jake Shields (he’s not fighting, but we invited him anyway) …

Eugene Jackson, who’s taking on Joe Riggs, was well on his way to gaining back the pounds he leached off earlier in the day.

Daniel Puder, who will fight Richard Dalton, was showing off his honey.

Canadian fighter and Revolution Fight Team member Rob Velek was attending his man Bill Mahood, who will be facing Bobby Southworth.

Tonight, the real party begins. We’re taking a bus out to the UCLA parking lot where we will transfer to a shuttle that will take us to Hef’s front door. There, we will watch the fights and party our asses off. Oh, I will have pictures…

Bodog Fight @ Playboy, Day 2

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Things are starting to pick up speed now. I just came back from the full weigh-ins and the rules meeting. The Los Angeles city Athletic Commission are some hardcore motherfuckers; they read out a rules list that was seriously 60 points long, with rules as strange as “no dropping the urine cup prior to the test.” Neat! Here are the official weights:

Gilbert Melendez – 155.5
Tetsuji Kato – 154.8

Eugene Jackson – 183.9
Joe Riggs – 184.0

Josh Thomson – 155.5
Adam Lynn – 155.1

Billy Evangelista – 154.7
Clint Coronel – 154.7

Matt Lee – 160.7
Jorge Masvidal – 159.3

Bobby Southworth – 203.9
Bill Mahood – 201.9

Falaniko Vitale – 194.7
Ron Fields – 193.7

Daniel Puder – 222.7
Richard Dalton – 225.0

Dewey Cooper – 204.2
Adam Smith – 209

Eddie Millis – 183.7
Daniel McWilliams - 178.5

Luke Stewart – 169.6
Sam Liera – 169.3

Anthony Figueroa – 132.5
Miguel Linares – 135.0

I also met quite a few of the new fighters (well, new to Bodog at least) including Dewey Cooper, Gilbert Melendez, Bobby Southworth (one of Strikeforce’s champions), and Luke Stewart. Of course, many of the old vets are here too, including Bill Mahood, Jorge Masvidal, Matt Lee, and Daniel Puder.

Tonight we’re having the first of many parties. I guess they’re calling this one the “post-weigh-ins” party. We’re at the Sofitel if you feel like crashing the place. Check in later tonight for some party pics.

We also hooked up with the cool cats from NowLive.com. They informed us that they’re streaming the fights and parties directly to their online player. Click the image above to see their wicked player thingy.

Bodog Fight @ Playboy, Day 1

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Yeah, I got invited to attend the Strikeforce event we’re sponsoring at the Playboy Mansion. And I only have two words to say about it: OooWoo.

Bodog Fight: At the Playboy Mansion

It’s the end of day 1 here in Beverly Hills and I have sad news to report: I didn’t take ANY pictures of Playboy bunnies today because we did, err, practically nothing except pick up equipment all day and drive around. I hear that’s what people in the film industry do all day in Los Angeles anyway, so we’re feeling right at home. I did see Trevor Prangley though. He was coming back from the Mall… excitement!

Check back tomorrow and Saturday for something a little more exciting. The fights are in Saturday and there’s some other interesting stuff happening tomorrow.

Bodog Fight: Clash of the Nations Re-Airing

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Season 5 is coming to a close, meaning that we’re getting close to airing the as-yet unnamed season 6 we filmed in Vancouver. But before we start that, we’ll be briefly airing a three-part miniseries - a re-airing of Clash of the Nations, the exciting PPV featuring the controversial Fedor Emelianenko versus Matt Lindland bout.

Bodog Fight: Fedor Emelianenko versus Matt Lindland

That fight will air on October 23. Here’s the whole show schedule:

8/09: Josh Curran VS. Jarno Nurminen | Roman Zentsov VS. Kristof Midoux

8/16: Bill Mahood VS. Steve Steinbeiss | Aleks Emelianenko VS. Eric Pele

8/23: Ray Steinbeiss VS. Dmitry Samoilov | Fedor VS. Lindland

Though the Fedor/Lindland fight is a fun watch, I actually prefer the Curran/Nurminen fight. Just can’t get enough of that Buffalohead.

This mini-series features both Steinbeiss brothers. Coincidentally, Ray and Steve also star in the first episode of season 6, fighting Chris Wilson and Antony Rea respectively.

Tomorrow Night’s Fight

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Tomorrow night’s episode features only a single fight - Amar Suloev versus Chael Sonnen - but trust me, it’s worth watching.

Bodog Fight: Chael Sonnen versus Amar Suloev

Amar Suloev (23-7-0) is one of the Red Devils, the Russian MMA team that fought Team America in Bodog Fight season 1. The Red Devils include such famous members as Fedor Emelianenko, Aleksander Emelianenko, Roman Zentsov, et cetera. Amar has been in the sport for about 150 years, so expect some seriously expert moves.

Chael Sonnen (18-8-1) is a veteran of Bodog Fight and a very scary man by my standards. He’s just pure, cold, murderous violence. He’s also a ham, famous for his outrageous statements. We put up a video of Chael trashing Fedor once. Boy, did that get a response.

This fight’s been a long time coming, so don’t miss it. Here’s where you can watch tomorrow night’s episode:
