Fighterwatch: Jorge Masvidal

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

As if you haven’t seen enough of this guy.

Jorge Masvidal is a BodogFight veteran. His original match - against Keith Wisniewski - was one of the soundest ass-whoopings we’ve seen yet. Not!

In fact, Masvidal-Wisniewski has been our most controversial fight. Debate still rages on whose fist should have been raised at the end. For those of you who haven’t seen it, check out our bootleg version:

Whenever I run into Jorge, I always take some time out to razz him about this fight. His cornerman - David Avellan - informs me that Jorge can take it; the young AFC Welterweight Champion is known for his ego, his taste for the ladies, and his wild claims regarding his abilities. If you recall, by the time he’s 25 Jorge intends to be “the most-reka-nizable sports figure in the world.” I swear, that’s what he said.

So here’s some pics of Jorge workin’ it in St.P.

The signature pose.

The Miami boyz found it a bit chilly. That’s David Avellan on the right. Word is we’ll be seeing a lot more of him in upcoming shows…

‘Course, Jorge found a few ways to get himself warmed up after a hard day’s work.

And here he is flying into combat against his opponent, Stever Berger.

Should have some seriously interesting news coming up in the next few days. Keep coming back.

St.Petersburg Air Dates/Times Update

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Just received word that BodogFight: St.Petersburg’s air date has been moved to February 13th at 11:00pm. Can’t reveal the network yet, but check back soon. Should only be a matter of days…

FighterWatch: Mike Brown

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

A ways back, someone requested I profile Mike Brown. I ignored that person for a long time, mostly because other people were yelling louder. So here he is - late but not least.

With a record of 15-4-0, Mike Brown will serve as more than a good challenge for his much-lauded opponent Yves Edwards, 29-11-0. To boot, Mike has a secret weapon - a degree in biology. Perhaps Mike will slip a homemade neurotoxin in Yves’s waterbottle before the fight. Bad form, Mike!

Here’s the man doing some shadowboxing at a shoot on the roof of the Peter and Paul Fortress.

In the green-screening shots, the competitors were forced to face-off only inches from each other. This proved uncomfortable for some fighters, but these two got along okay.

Mike was one of the lucky few that got in on filming the Know Your Moves segments. Here, he teaches a BodogGirl how to enjoy having her ankle almost broken.

Here’s a quick snap as he lunges into the ring against Yves.

Surprisingly few scars considering his hobbies.

Right. So now who?

Pay Per View Announced

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

Nothing is ever really permanent around here, but I have it on good authority that our next pay-per-view - titled BodogFight: Clash of the Nations - will air on April 14th.

Word is - a fairly major MMA superstar will be fighting on it. I wouldn’t be so stupid as to post that info right now, though. If you’ve been keeping up on the rumours, you probably have a good idea already.

2 Weeks Left…

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

There’s only two weeks left until the premiere of BodogFight: St. Petersburg. Okay, a little bit less than that since the first episode airs on February 6th.

Don’t forget that you can watch the whole show online as well starting Feb 7th. Our new website should be launched on February 2nd, barring natural disasters or, you know, laziness.

We’ve also worked out some new weekly contests that I’m sure you’ll find entertaining. If you win, you’ll get access to some super-secret content that I swear you’ll want to see. You may have heard earlier that we’ll be giving away home versions of BodogFight to play with your family. Let me state unequivocally that “that was a total fucking lie.” That’s just how we roll around here.

So… maybe a FighterWatch profile tomorrow. Any requests? Someone asked about Mike Brown…
